Deborah Long has worked in early childhood for over 25 years and started her in out of hours school care as an educator. Deborah has worked in early childhood settings as an early childhood teacher and director as well as a consultant and trainer/assessor in sustainability, children’s services and health studies. Deborah is currently employed in local government in a management position supporting early childhood services and family day care educators. She leads the Children’s Services Unit’s sustainability group which she helped to develop in 2012.
Deborah completed a Masters in Environmental Advocacy in 2016 through UNE and a Vocational Graduate Certificate in Education & Training for Sustainability through TAFE in 2014. She was a finalist in the Australian Family Early Education & Care Awards in 2015 and a finalist in the HESTA Early Childhood Education & Care Awards, Advancing Pedagogy and Practice in 2014 for her contribution to sustainability at the early education service she was directing.
